The 2nd Technology Academy graduation was held on Thursday 19th October at Michael Joseph Centre. The event which was graced by Safaricom Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bob Collymore saw a total of 70 Graduands – 24 ladies and 46 gentlemen from Universities across the country including JKUAT, UoN, Strathmore, Multimedia, Dedan Kimathi, KU, & Masinde Muliro Universities.
The theme of the event was “Young Minds”, aimed at encouraging more diversity and inclusion within the technical career space.
Technology Academy recently on-boarded a new group of interns for the internship program that aims to release highly trained engineers. The agenda is to equip them with the necessary skills to make them market ready. The interns actually sit and work with the engineers thereby learning a lot from them. It runs on a quarterly calendar; each sessions 3 months.
Just before the interns graduate, a career fair matching their skills to potential employers is organized. Partners in technology space grace these events and this always has a positive outcome career wise. Many have converted to Safaricom staff and over 100 to other partners. The number is increasing steadily and current intake has a quota for ladies, people living with disabilities and the boy child.
